progress

Ok, so from this image you can see a mountain range, and that i've destroyed the walls a bit. I decided to for a more abandoned/forgotten space. I'm not sure if i'll do the detail work on the doors or the steps, or if I just want to go for a more general space. For sure I'll be adding a decent texture to the building surface, and some plants within the courtyard.

It's rendered all little because for some reason, if it isn't, blender will invariably crash. Blender can be a trashy little tramp sometimes.

Progress on final project

I'm working on an environment for my character to hang around in. I'm going for sort of an abandoned church/garden area type place. Not done modeling yet, planning on adding statues, lots of trees, water in the fountain and front pond like area, and some more architecture in general. I have a wall texture painted already, and I plan to make my own stone texture and various other textures.

eyelashes

I figured out how to make nice looking eyelashes! I feel so flippin' smart! Ignore eyebrows though...doing those next.

Purdy

So after lots of pain and an eventual blood sacrifice....it's finally rendering somewhat nicely! I found a setting in the particles that somehow had gotten set to render as a shader, and I tried switching it to solids and it seemed to do the trick. Now, using a separate texture or colorband for the hair proved to be a complete...failure. It's supposed to work, but all it did for me was waste many hours worth of tinkering.

I threw out the old textures and am painting them all in photoshop myself. I like it loads better.

Here is a sample! The lips and near the eyes are a touch wonky...must have accidentally drawn on that part. I shortened the hair a good deal, nead to style a little more too.

works in progress

So...just some basic textures, no bump mapping, and I need to fix how the arm is unwrapping without messing up the other textured that i already put down. Then i'm gonna (try to) add some hair. The new particle system is cool, yet a little scary.

USB thumbdrive....monster

Monster plant growth, or sentient being growth? Maybe you should dust out your computer tower more often.

character modeling progress

This is a couple of hours into the process of a low-poly character.

A new pokemon, maybe?

Here's the same little bug as before, but with a texture mapped to his legs and tail. And some dramatic lighting.

KITTENS!

A new species!

It's the adorably dangerous Fuzzy Scorpion! It hangs out near catmint plants, hoping to crawl on to a friendly hand. Just how dangerous it might be is unknown, but one can expect that it harbors very sinister thoughts.

Weekend Work

I tried modeling an ear! I got a start from a tutorial, but then I branched out and did a lot on my own. I tried to model it after my own ear, but the picture sort of lacked the depth.

It was difficult but also pretty fun!

Here is another render of the ear, with a basic color added and a little tiny tweak to the shape of the mesh:

Fisrt Day Back

It's the first day back with blender! Here is my image for the day, where we were just exploring the interface and basic modeling techniques. I started with a cylinder, and used subsurfacing and extrusions to make the water bottle shape. The texture of the bottle was made using a voronoi texture over a slightly mirrored and fresneled light blue surface. The cap of the bottle uses a very slight voronoi, no fresnel transparency, and a black surface.

I feel like I should have picked a more difficult object, but my little duck store water bottle was the closest object to me at the time and I just wanted to get going. Here's the blender view:

And now one more, extreme close-up view!
